The Forge of Creation & Profession Guide
Profession & Item Guide Blacksmith_Lenigrast_Render
"Famed Orcish Blacksmith, Lenigrast Blackhammer"

What is a Profession?: A profession is a vocation founded upon specialized educational training, the purpose of which is to supply objective counsel and service to others, for a direct and definite compensation, wholly apart from expectation of other business gain. There are many to choose from, which arises when any trade or occupation transforms itself through the development of formal qualifications based upon education, apprenticeship, and examinations, the emergence of regulatory bodies with powers to admit and discipline members, and some degree of monopoly rights. On The Fifth Sanctum, you may select one Main Profession and one Secondary Profession.

Main & Secondary Profession?: As stated, there are Main Professions as well as Secondary Professions. A Main Profession (MPR) is any profession that allows you to create or forge new items or benefits. A Secondary Profession (SPR) is any profession that allows you to gather materials for a Main Profession. The legend for both of these is below, as well as the experience legend for ranking up in Profession Level.

How are Professions Applied Here?: On The Fifth Sanctum, any profession you select can be a vital importance as to who your character is, what they represent, or, alternatively, a vital importance to your race or friends. An individual with useful professions and a high profession level are valuable assets, as they can craft high-level equipment, and, if capable, enchantment slots that allow Mage's to grace your armor or weaponry with amazing benefits or powers, assuming the item has an Enchantment Slot. Only items level 5 and higher may carry an Enchantment Slot on them, and they are very hard to come across. An item may only be given (1) ONE Enchantment Slot.

Though it is extremely scarcely seen, an item that an individual finds that comes with an Enchantment Slot already on it may have an additional Enchantment Slot added to it by a Professionary (someone who has a profession). Enchantment Slots can only be added to an item assuming the item falls under the same category as their Main Profession. IE: A Blacksmith can add Enchantment Slots to metal-based armors like Bronze, Steel and Iron but not to Leather Armor or Cloth Armor. A Weaponsmith can add Enchantment Slots to any type of weaponry, but not to any type of armor.

What Main Professions are Available?: Blacksmithing (Metal Armor Crafting), Weaponsmithing (Weapon Crafting), Tailoring (Cloth Armor Crafting), Leatherworking (Leather Armor Crafting), Engineering (Machine Development, Gnomes Only), Alchemy (Item Transmutation, Silver coins to Gold coins), Poisonmaking (Poison Crafting), Enchanting (Mage Only)

What Secondary Professions are Available?: Mining (MP: Blacksmithing, Weaponsmithing, Engineering, Alchemy), Herb Gathering (MP: Alchemy, Poisonmaking), Gadgeteering (Identification of machinima parts, MP: Engineering), Skinning (MP: Leatherworking, Tailoring), Magic Essence Gathering (MP: Enchanting, Mage Only)

Each number listed below is considered to be an HOURLY RATE. IE: Lv1, MP: 6 Hours, SP: 3 Hours.

How long does each task take?

  • LV1 MP: 6, SP: 3, x4 when Farming
  • LV2 MP: 12, SP: 6, x8 when Farming
  • LV3 MP: 18, SP: 9, x15 when Farming
  • LV4 MP: 24, SP: 12, x22 when Farming
  • LV5 MP: 30, SP: 15, x28 when Farming
  • LV6 MP: 36, SP: 18, x35 when Farming
  • LV7 MP: 42, SP: 21, x42 when Farming
  • LV8 MP: 48, SP: 24, x48 when Farming
  • LV9 MP: 54, SP: 27, x55 when Farming
  • LV10 MP: 60, SP: 30, x63 when Farming
  • LV11 MP: 66, SP: 33, x72 when Farming
  • LV12 MP: 72, SP: 36, x79 when Farming
  • LV13 MP: 78, SP: 39, x85 when Farming
  • LV14 MP: 84, SP: 42, x91 when Farming
  • LV15 MP: 90, SP: 45, x99 when Farming
  • LV16 MP: 96, SP: 48, x104 when Farming
  • LV17 MP: 102, SP: 51, x110 when Farming
  • LV18 MP: 108, SP: 54, x118 when Farming
  • LV19 MP: 114, SP: 57, x125 when Farming
  • LV20 MP: 120, SP: 60, x132 when Farming

How do I perform any tasks involving Professions?
If an item can be used in any profession application, it will carry the tag "Profession Item". If a target, such as a wandering creature placed inside of a topic by whoever designs the Map for a roleplayer, can be farmed for use in a task involving a profession, it will carry the tag "Professions: {Profession Here}". In the above listed chart, the "x#" represents how many of a material you gather when finished waiting out the hourly period listed to its left. An administrator, or GM (Game Master), will post what materials you managed to gather once finished.

Each hourly rate is carried over for the same purposes on every level of application for Professions and Tasks. A level 1 item will take 6 hours to craft, and it will take 3 hours to gather a material from a level 1 creature, or deposit of ore for example, and will gain 4 materials from farming it; whereas a level 10 item will take 60 hours to craft, and it will take 30 hours to gather a material from a level 10 creature, or deposit of ore for example, and will gain 63 materials from farming it. All tasks that involve creating an item, skill, spell, weapon, armor or enchantments MUST be done in the Forge of Creation! Farming materials can be done anywhere, as long as the gathering of materials is approved by an administrator, accompanied by a 250 Wordcount (W/C) post detailing your gathering of the materials. This wordcount applies to all levels of gathering (1-20), and does not increase as you level up. Crafting of any item, skill, spell, weapon, armor or enchantment requires a 500 W/C post detailing your creating these things.

What does an item look like here? Though there is an item template, which will be posted below this description, items are also sorted in terms of rarity and value. Naturally, the rarer the item, the more powerful and/or valuable it may be. How do you know what is rare? Easy! Color-coding. Additionally, you should know that 100 copper coins = 1 silver coin. 100 silver coins = 1 gold coin. Finally, 100 gold coins = 1 gold bar. In order to exchange coins of lesser value for coins of greater value, you must visit the Bank of Ceutania, where you will speak to an administrator OOC'ly. You will make a topic entering the bank, and then an administrator will initiate OOC measures. Following that, you will tell them what you'd like exchanged, or deposited, and they will do so accordingly as long as you have the required currencies.

It is imperative to know that if your character dies in any topic at any time for any reason, all of their items stored in their inventory and financial claims fall on the space they are standing upon, and may be claimed by anyone or anything in, or which enters, the topic. Their bank vault may be raided, and any items or financial claims stored in that characters vault are forfeit in that case. As a result of this however, the individual who raids that vault becomes a criminal and will immediately be pursued by two (2) Lv15 NPC guards under the command & control of an administrator.
